2 x HISTORY POSTERS

COPYWRITING, DESIGN & ILLUSTRATION

The initial project entailed crafting a poster honouring Mary Anning, an eminent Fossil Hunter, Palaeontologist, and Scientist prominent in the early 1800s. I collaborated closely, utilising provided content and conceptual directives for imagery and illustrations. The result was an illuminating poster that lauds the accomplishments of this pioneering figure. Anning's groundbreaking contributions, pivotal in substantiating the existence of dinosaurs and affirming the world's age as millions of years, were duly celebrated.

Subsequently, I embarked on a compelling challenge—to curate, compose copy, design, and illustrate the Ancient City of Baghdad. This historical marvel, a circular fortified city erected around 762 AD during the Golden Age of Islam, posed an intriguing puzzle due to the scarcity of extant information and physical remnants. Through extensive research, delving into historical records and references, I meticulously reconstructed a vivid portrayal of this lost city.

Employing my cartographic expertise, I crafted a 3D visualisation to further enhance the comprehensive depiction. The culminating narrative chronicled the tragic demise of Baghdad, ravaged and mostly obliterated by the formidable Mongol army in 1258. These projects stand as testaments to the fusion of historical inquiry, artistic prowess, and storytelling, capturing the essence of iconic figures and lost civilisations with depth and detail.
